The Research Centre at a Glance

The Leipzig Research Centre Global Dynamics (ReCentGlobe) is a central institution of Leipzig University. Through broad interdisciplinary cooperation, ReCentGlobe is dedicated to the study of globalization projects in the past and present. More than 250 staff members from various faculties and subjects work together at the Centre. They collaborate in training and further educating young academics at the Graduate School Global and Area Studies (GSGAS). The centre features several Labs for worldwide cooperations, Digital Humanities, science communication and knowledge transfer.

At the Labs and at the GSGAS, the research areas work together and coordinate their work via the board of directors. This work is regularly evaluated by an advisory board, which reports to the University's rectorate.

The Centre is guided by a board of directors and coordinated by an administrative office. They are in charge of the conception, coordination and implementation of the academic research programme.

The board of directors actively promotes the centre's (inter)national academic networking and represents it externally. It consists of:

  • two spokespersons per research area
  • one head of each Lab
  • the representatives of our early career researchers
  • up to three representatives of the associated faculties.

The administrative office coordinates the day-to-day operations of the Centre and creates the structural prerequisites for a productive and inspiring research and working environment. To this end, we work closely with the coordinators of the third-party funded research networks. Our core tasks include key areas of work such as transfer and science communication as well as science management.
