Stuart is a PhD employee at the DFG Emmy-Noether Junior Research Group 'African RECs in Global Politics'. The group studies the agency and practices of African ROs in shaping and implementing highly interrelated and securitized regional/global policy fields. His thesis examines the role of the Southern African Development Community and the East African Community in Global Politics. He studied Security and Strategic Studies at the University of Pretoria and worked as a Researcher at Good Governance Africa and the Institute for Security Studies in South Africa.
