Constanze Blum is a PhD candidate at the Graduate School Global and Area Studies. In her dissertation, she focuses on the history and functioning of the African Union Border Programme (AUBP). Her particular research interest lies in the German support to the African Union in the field of peace and security and the day-to-day interactions between various actors in international cooperation.
In October 2020, Constanze joined the Research Institute Social Cohesion (RISC) Leipzig/ReCentGlobe as a researcher in the sub-project on “Political Populism in Southern Africa” that studies populism(s) and national debates around social cohesion in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia.
Before joining ReCentGlobe, Constanze worked in the field of rural development in Mozambique and as Advisor on German Africa Policy for an NGO in Berlin.
She holds an M.A. in African Studies from Leipzig University and a B.A. in International Relations from the University of Geneva.
