ReCentGlobe Annual Conference 2024: Technology, Resources & New Global Dynamics
The 2024 ReCentGlobe Annual Conference aims to explore the interrelations between technological evolution and globalization, specifically in the context of resource flows.
The conference provides a platform for scholarly discussion on how technological advancements and global interconnectedness have historically affected the distribution and conceptualization of resources, while also considering the contemporary challenges that complicate this relationship.
Over the course of six panels, different dimensions of this question will be explored, such as the dual role of technology as a facilitator of globalization and a complex agent within environmental and socio-economic framework or the historical perspective of technology as a means of imitating and enhancing nature for human benefit, and its transformation into a force with significant environmental and societal implications.
The conference will include a keynote lecture on Thursday evening by anthropologist Richard Rottenburg entitled 'Technicization, Colonization, and Decoloniality'.
Also, on Thursday between 13:30 and 14:30 we will gather for our annual general assembly (ReCentGlobe members only. A separate invitation email will be sent to you. Nevertheless, we kindly ask you to register using the form on our conference website.)
