The 2022 Annual Report of the Research Centre Global Dynamics at Leipzig University has been published. It provides a detailed insight into ReCentGlobe's activities in the areas of research, promotion of young researchers as well as knowledge transfer.

In his foreword, ReCentGlobe Director Prof Dr Matthias Middell points to the far-reaching implications of the year 2022 - also for research: "The term 'multicrisis' [made] the rounds, carrying the awareness of a caesura into the academic debates of numerous disciplines. ReCentGlobe reacted to this in the science festival GLOBE22 with a focus on climate solidarity and, through numerous new projects, fought against the misperception that everywhere in the world this multi-crisis can be read according to Western standards."

In the Annual Report, interviews with our researchers provide a variety of perspectives on the perceived multi-crisis as well as on the general work in ReCentGlobe's research areas. Its networks and studies received around 6.82 million euros in third-party funding in 2022 - more than ever before since the Centre was founded. The number of scientific contributions has also increased significantly: In total, more than 350 publications were published by ReCentGlobe members. In addition, interactions with the scientific community and civil society through academic events have again increased considerably. More than 200 events were organised over the course of the year, including the six-day Leipzig Science Festival Globe22 mentioned above.

The Annual Report also provides information on developments regarding the new "Global Hub" research building, which is to be built in a central location in Leipzig by 2026. There are also updates on the Graduate School Global and Area Studies programme for young researchers, the Theory Forum of ReCentGlobe and our three labs for digital humanities, international cooperation and knowledge transfer that support the Centre's research activities.
