Post-1949, a novel subdiscipline within mechanics, namely explosion mechanics, emerged in China, originating from the Institute of Mechanics at the Chinese Academy of Sciences under the leadership of Qian Xuesen. The focus of my research is to scrutinize the scientific endeavors of Chinese mechanics scholars, with a particular emphasis on those associated with Qian Xuesen, aiming to elucidate the factors contributing to this phenomenon from the vantage point of academic genealogy. In addition to delving into the historical background of these scholars, my study advocates for leveraging network analysis to derive fresh insights from published materials. I posit that the transmission of knowledge occurs through intricate social networks cultivated by scholars, exemplified by mentoring networks and collaborative academic associations. Consequently, my research will systematically analyze two key facets: firstly, the temporal evolution of research topics among scientists, and secondly, the dissemination of pertinent knowledge both within and beyond the purview of the Institute of Mechanics.
