This lecture series consists of monthly presentations by invited international scholars in the study of cultural transfers in very different regions. The presenters discuss the relationship between cultural transfer research, transnational history and transregional studies using examples from their ongoing research. Its aim is to make participants familiar with an approach that is both a methodological perspective and a specific theoretical foundation of the investigation of border-crossing phenomena.

The lecture series is based on the long-term collaboration between the Leipzig Centre for the Study of France and the Francophone World and the Research Centre Global Dynamics at Leipzig University and the École normale supérieure – PSL Paris (UMR Pays Germaniques – Transferts Culturels), whose partnership has inspired a large number of joint publications and events since the early 1990s.

The lecture series is organized entirely online and open to all interested students and researchers. The sessions are held in French, English or German, whereby the language of the lecture results from the presentation title, while interventions in the discussion are possible in all three languages. The lecture series is connected to a transnational seminar offered for MA and PhD students of ENS Paris, the Global and European Studies Institute and the Graduate School Global and Area Studies at Leipzig University. The seminar is also a central part of the teaching program of the Franco-German graduate school “Cultural Transfers”, organized by the École normale supérieure and Leipzig University and funded by the Franco-German University.

For the full program, see research.uni-leipzig.de/transfertsculturels/en/cultural-transfer/  You can register there for the whole lecture series or to get guest access to individual sessions.
