Gender, Space and Smuggling in Eighteenth Century French Alps
The lecture was organized by the Chair of Early Modern History and the Chair of Social and Economic History. In cooperation with the Frankreichzentrum of Leipzig University.
From the high valleys of the French province of the Dauphiné to the streets of Lyon and Grenoble, this paper will examine the spaces, mechanisms and social actors (men and women) engaged in smuggling between the last decades of the 17th century and the French Revolution.
