The European Master Global Studies and the Graduate School Global and Area Studies at Leipzig University are connected through exchange programs and joint workshops to Sogang University in Seoul, South Korea. The partnership allows for a stay at Sogang within the non-European university semester in the EMGS programme and for the use of Erasmus World grants by PhD-students.
Sogang University offers the opportunity to learn more about its Critical Global Studies Programme in an Open House Event held as an online Zoom meeting on 8 April from 9:30 to 10:30 AM (CEST). You can learn about the different programmes (Master, Integrated Master and Doctoral Degree, PhD) and meet current students who will share their experiences. Afterwards you will then have the opportunity to ask questions to faculty and students.
The Critical Global Studies Programme is a rather "young" programme, established in Spring 2022, which is an ideal place for productive exchange and curiosity, especially due to its geographical location and the associated critical perspective on globalisation processes. Located in Korea - an emerging Asian Tiger and yet seeing itself as part of the global South - it allows for exciting discussions on the ambiguity of globalisation, industrialisation and socio-cultural change.
