Abstract

Nina Mackert is a historian and working as a research fellow in the interdisciplinary project "Leipzig Lab - Global Health". Her research is located in the fields of North American and transatlantic cultural history and history of knowledge, in the history of bodies, eating, and health, in critical ability studies, and the new history of capitalism. She is currently finishing her second book, a US and transatlantic history of the calorie.


Her work has been supported by the VolkswagenStiftung, the German Historical Institute in Washington, D.C., the Organization of American Historians, the Fritz Thyssen Foundation as well as the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation.

She is a member of the editorial board of the journal "Body Politics" and co-founder as well as -editor of the academic blog "Food, Fatness, Fitness—Critical Perspectives."
