Having chiefly studied political science and spent much of my life in Egypt and Saudi Arabia, my research interests include authoritarian politics in the MENA region, socioeconomic changes in GCC countries, and the politics of resource extraction in the Global South. Although initially schooled in the positivist tradition of political science, I now lean more towards the interpretivist approach to doing interdisciplinary research.
